COVID-19 Vaccine Dose Available – Wednesday, October 27th, 2021

NOTICE
3rd COVID-19 Vaccine Dose Available

Wednesday, October 27th, 2021

Temagami First Nation would like to advise that we, in partnership with the Timiskaming Health Unit, will be offering the 3rd Covid-19 Vaccine dose on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 by appointment. This vaccine is for individuals with immune suppressed health conditions and whose second dose needed to have taken place over 20 weeks prior. Please call Acting Community Health Nurse, Nazneen at 705-237-8900 ext. 305 to book your appointment if you fall under the below criteria:

  • Individuals receiving active treatment (e.g., chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy) for solid tumour or hematologic malignancies.
  • Recipients of solid-organ transplant and taking immunosuppressive therapy.
  • Recipients of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy or hematopoietic stem cell transplant (within 2 years of transplantation or taking immunosuppression therapy).
  • Individuals with moderate to severe primary immunodeficiency (e.g., DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).
  • Individuals with stage 3 or advanced untreated HIV infection and those with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
  • Individuals receiving active treatment with the following categories of immunosuppressive therapies: anti-B cell therapies (monoclonal antibodies targeting CD19, CD20 and CD22), high-dose systemic corticosteroids, alkylating agents, antimetabolites, or tumor-necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors and other biologic agents that are significantly immunosuppressive.

Fire Hydrant Flushing Notice

Please be advised that the Infrastructure Department will be Flushing Fire Hydrants.

Residents affected will be those connected to the water treatment plant.

When: Tuesday, October 19th, 2021

Hydrants are flushed periodically as part of our maintenance program. It is necessary to:

  • maintain the integrity of the water system
  • remove sediment from the water mains
  • verify the proper operation of the hydrants and valves
  • maintain fire fighting capability

Residents can experience:

  • a drop-in water pressure while the hydrants are being flushed
  • you may experience discolouration

Although the water remains safe to drink, please run your cold water until it runs clear again.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Housing Advisory Committee Call Out

TFN HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE

CALL FOR (5) COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Term ending September 30, 2023

Temagami First Nation is currently accepting applications for Committee Members of the Housing Advisory Committee.

The objective of the Committee is to make formal recommendations to Council regarding the development and on-going review of the TFN Housing Policy, consult with the TFN membership and obtain their input, and overseeing the housing policy’s development and implementation and make recommendations regarding annual priorities for housing, renovations, and water systems, efficient use of the budget monies, as well as long term planning for housing.

Chief and Council are inviting interested persons to submit a letter stating reasons why you are interested in joining the Advisory Committee and an indication of the skills and relevant experience you may bring to the committee. Chief and Council will review all applicants and appoint five (5) members.
