Volunteer Department Information

Bear Island’s Emergency First Response Team is a volunteer organization that began on Bear Island in 1993. First Response members are trained to respond to any emergency situation at a level beyond basic First Aid. As a First Responder, we provide an essential lifeline in the emergency medical system. Working together with the Ministry of Health and the District of Nipissing Paramedic Services, the First Responder plays a critical role in the initial care and support of the patient requiring emergency medical services within our community.
