The BIEA strives to provide culturally appropriate, well-rounded, educational programs for all students and encourage them to become lifelong learners who attain academic excellence and life balance. The Bear Island Education Authority operates under a board that meets monthly, consisting of a chairperson and 5 board members. This board oversees educational matters relating to Temagami First Nation members including:
Elementary School: Laura McKenzie Learning Centre – JK through Grade 8
Secondary Students: Travel to urban areas for education or traveling to New Liskeard daily.

Post Secondary Funding Deadline
The deadline to apply for Post Secondary Funding is due each year on May 31, please send all requests to the BIEA Education Office. Contact them here.
